A New Blog – Fashion, Accessories, makeup and of course Blethering

Hello,

I have started this new blog as the old one just wasn’t cutting it.  So hoping this will be the start of a better chapter in Lark & Lily blogging!

I have added an about section so you can read a wee bit about me and see my mug, which i am sure you have seen plenty of on social media ha, i do love a selfie when my makeup is looking right!

I post long captions on instagram and thought i should really start my new blog as it is a better place to talk about my work and love of creative things including fashion and makeup. I am not a professional makeup artist but i love, when i have the time, to paint my face as i see it like a blank canvas. I love styling my outfits and often do that for family too. I have a degree in textiles and fashion from Heriot Watt University and was based in their Borders Campus in Galashiels for 4 years. It was a great time in my life where i built confidence in myself and my design work. I met some lifelong friends and miss being a student in some ways.

 

I am back living in Caithness now and have had a few different jobs before i started my business, retail banking and fashion retail to name a couple. I have always wanted to be my own boss, so although it is hard graft, i am very grateful to be able to do what i love. Plus working from home means i get to spend lots of time with my two furbabies Hugo and Mabel.

Living so far North means we have very little shops so i am an avid online shopper! I just hate having the hassle of having to return stuff. We have a New Look and a F&F within the local Tescos but not much else for my age range. Nearest big stores are 100 miles away…i am always moaning on twitter that Primark isn’t online.

On a plus we are lucky to have beautiful scenery up here, something which inspires my work, so i feel grateful to have that. The stunning beaches are not far away and i love taking my two dogs with me for some head clearing to de-stress and getting back in touch with mother nature.

We love our road trips along the West coast of the Scottish Highlands, if only the summer temperatures lasted more than a few days! Our beaches look like they could be abroad when the sun shines, there really is no better place to be!

So i hope that gives you a bit of an idea of what i do and who i am,
